While July shapes up to be a month that feels optimistic and, dare I say, even positive, I have felt the urge and buzz around writing and creating once again that I haven’t felt in a while.
Yes, I know I created a whole human not that long ago. I feel as though while I was pregnant my creative abilities shifted to focus on putting bones, muscles and eyelashes together into a little person and sapped away any energy that might have been used to write, craft or do literally anything else at all. I very much managed to get though nearly all of Netflix and the BBC back catalogue however, which has left me now a bit bereft of things to consume.
However devouring books has pretty much become a favourite highlight of my day in terms of the time I get to do so, and I have decided to add little book reviews to my blog. The books I read have been of interest to people for a while, although not always death related (and I do delve into some fiction every now and then) I will review any that I think might be of interest on here. Keep an eye out for my first one soon! I don’t think I’ve attempted a book review since I was at school so this is very much a new venture for me. However, if you follow me on Goodreads you’ll know that I’m currently reading the autobiography of Bob Mortimer which is good but I’m not sure on topic really for this blog.
You may remember my ‘Simon Says Study’ days where my friend would come round, I’d make dinner and we’d force each to do work on our laptops. It was like a mutual responsibility thing with each other equally as distracting while also dragging us back to our work. Well there’s a spark of this happening again soon, with no coursework to complete I may even get to do some research. The last time this happened was many months ago and I spent hours poring over a modern OS map of East London against a 19th Century one. Some may say time wasted but I learnt that maps don’t always show things you think they will! In fact, I originally typed this with a vague plan of it happening, but now I type this sentence Simon is sat directly opposite me. Hooray!
In other news, life is generally going well. Little one is also doing well. I don’t share pictures of her face online widely as a personal choice but enjoy the back of her head and the wonderful birth marks she has. Everything is fine and also not a lot happening at the same time. And this is okay. Boring can be good, not only that but it can be better than the alternative!

Hope your mid-2024 is treating you just as well.
